offers today's leading Web-based solutions for online reservations,
data management, and integration with the in-house reservation system.
Skyline has in
place three main web applications that are available. These web
applications quote real time fares and availability as well as record
reservation information directly into Skyline. Any combination of
these applications may be utilized.
Medical Services direct booking pages.
These web pages are designed to allow medical referral or regional health authorities to make bookings directly into the in house Skyline reservation system yet providing superior controls and security. It is customized to suit the provincial patient referral market in Canada. It captures specific information required by Medical services such as warrant numbers, treaty numbers, patient vs escort, and authorizations. It also allows the referral agency to view and replace duplicate bookings. This site has been in operation over the past 6 months and is well accepted and used regularly by Southeast Referral in Winnipeg. In fact, it is the only web site that referral staff currently have access to.
Travel Agency Pages
We have in place online bookings designed specially for travel agents. This system is designed to accept credit card payments directly into the web page as well as has all the functionality of the Medical Services pages in terms of real time availability and fares. Before the confirmation is printed the credit card has been charged.
This system allows access to travel agents using an assigned user id and password. Once the travel agent books the ticket all information is automatically saved in the Skyline database.
General Public
There is a third page that is designed for the general public to make reservations. It contains all of the functionality of other pages but does not require a user id or password.

Getting Prepared
How the current network is set up in terms of the placement of the servers will have an impact on how to proceed with providing online bookings. However, there are a number of setup tasks that will need to be performed prior to implementing any online system. For example, if the airline wishes to perform online credit card transactions we would have to :
a) establish a communications link to your bank or set up new merchant accounts
b) certify and build in encryption into the web server
c) certify the server using Thawte or some equivalent.
